Is Fish Sauce Keto?

A classic Keto Diet recommends a daily net carb intake of between 20g-30g per day (for 2000 calorie diet).  In other words, the keto diet encourages replacing daily carb content mostly with fats.

Fish sauce has few net carbs: 0.7g per serving (18grams). This number of net carbs makes fish sauce perfect for a Keto Diet (1).

One serving size of fish sauce (18 grams) provides:

Calories: 6.3

Protein: 1 gram

Fat: 0 grams

Total carbs: 3.64 grams, all are net carbs

Net Carbs

Fish sauce has 3.64g of net carbs per 100g and 0.7g of net carbs per serving, accordingly.

Summary

Fish sauce can be consumed on the keto diet due to its low net carbs content.

Accordingly, it has only 0.7 grams of net carbs per serving (18g) and 3.64 grams of net carbs per 100 grams. However, be wary of fish sauce because it contains a high amount of sodium, and some types of sauce (Asian fish sauce) can contain sugar.
