Is Caviar Keto?

The nutritional profile of black and red granular caviar is rich. Caviar, and overall roe, has an excellent nutrient profile for the keto diet.

Caviar has a tiny amount of net carbs (only 0.7g per saving) and a high amount of healthy fats, perfect for a Keto Diet [1].

You can also visit the Caviar Nutrition page to see its complete nutritional profile.

One serving size of caviar (16 grams) provides:

Calories: 42

Protein: 4 grams

Fat: 3 grams. Caviar falls in the range of the top 18% of foods as a source of fats.

Total carbs: 0.7 grams and all are net carbs

Net Carbs

A classic Keto Diet recommends limiting your net carb consumption to 20g - 30g per day (for 2000 calorie diet). Caviar provides a tiny amount of net carbs. So per day, you can consume about 1.5 kg of caviar and still not cross the limit of net carbs (if caviar is the only source of net carbs). However, caviar is usually consumed in tiny amounts.

Summary

Both black and red caviars are an excellent addition to a well-balanced Keto Diet since they have low net carbs and high fats.

Caviar is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which have many health benefits.
