Kiwifruit, also known as Chinese gooseberry, gets its sweet taste due to the 9g of sugars in every 100g serving.

According to The International Tables of Glycemic Index Values, the glycemic index of kiwifruit from Australia falls in the range of 58. In contrast, kiwifruit from New Zealand has a glycemic index between 47±4 (1).

Based on the numbers from the Taiwan study's glycemic index, Golden Kiwi's glycemic index is about 43 (2).

Research demonstrated that low glycemic index fruits, such as kiwifruit, have beneficial properties that may reduce the risk of diabetes.

Kiwifruit is also a good source of fiber, which may slow the absorption of sugar and help improve blood sugar levels. A healthy diet that includes kiwifruit can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes (3).
